The optional field tour is Thursday, May 17th from approximately 8 AM to 3 PM for a separate registration fee of $50.

Participants in the field tour will visit local public forest sites to observe and discuss on-going forestry and research activities related to the management of oak-hickory forests. Topics discussed will include the impact of forest regeneration methods (e.g., clearcut, group selection, and single-tree selection) and management activities (e.g. prescribed fire) on the flora and fauna of oak-hickory forests in Indiana. Speakers will include various natural resource professionals from Indiana universities, state forestry and wildlife agencies, and/or federal forestry or wildlife agencies.
