The optional field tour is Thursday, May 17th from approximately 8 AM to 3 PM for a separate registration fee of $50.

The field tour has been approved for 4.0 category 1 CFE’s from the Society of American Foresters.
Participants in the field tour will visit a local State Forest to observe and discuss on-going forest management techniques and research activities related to maintaining oak-hickory forests. During the tour, participants will hear from various natural resource researchers from across Indiana. Topics discussed will include the impact of forest regeneration methods (e.g., clearcut, group selection, and single-tree selection) and management activities (e.g. prescribed fire) on the flora and fauna of oak-hickory forests in Indiana.
